BARBU D'ANVERS

History: A variety of Belgian Bearded Bantams, they are old established true bantams without counterparts in large breeds.

Characteristics: A small, compact and plump bird standing upright.  Rose comb, face covered with feathers, forming whiskers and beard.  Short tail and clean legged.

Colours: An extraordinary choice of colours, including millefleur, porcelaine, quail, blue quail, silver quail, lavender quail, cuckoo, black mottled, black, white, lavender and blue.

At The Garden Hen we keep the quail variety which have a ground colour of umber with very fine gold lacing.  Back covered with umber coloured feathers having a silvery velvety lustre, each feather dark and fine laced with chamois.  Wings and tail same colour as the back.  Legs and feet slate grey.
