BARBU D'UCCLE
History: A variety of Belgian Bearded Bantams, they are old established true bantams without counterparts in large breeds.
Characteristics: A small, compact and plump bird. Small single comb, brow covered with feathers, full developed beard. Breast extremely broad and carried forward. Legs and feet slate blue and covered with feathers. Short tail.
Colours: An extraordinary choice of colours, including millefleur, porcelaine, quail, blue quail, silver quail, lavender quail, cuckoo, black mottled, black, white, lavender and blue.
At The Garden Hen we keep the millefleur variety which have a ground colour of golden chamois, each feather ending with a black pea shaped spot tipped with a white triangle.
Why do we keep Barbu d'Uccle at The Garden Hen? Their markings are very unusual and extremely pretty.
